Werri Boardriders 2020
Senior pointscore and Microgroms pointscore cancelled until further notice.

Thank you for the support you have shown Werri Beach Boardriders  and The Werri Slash surfing competition.

In light of the developing COVID-19 situation and following the advice from Surfing NSW, the Werri Beach Boardriders have made the decision to postpone The Slash 2020 until a later date.

We hope to run The Slash later this year so that we can continue to support our local young surfers in developing their competitive surfing skills.

Once again, we thank you for your support and we will be in touch when we know more.

Dean Bowen wins Biggest Paddle-in Ride

ASL Oakley Big Wave Awards

Deano has won the biggest Paddle-in-Ride at the recent ASL Oakley Big Wave awards. One of Australia’s top pro junior surfer, Deano is also rapidly renowned as a big wave aficionado, as Deano was a finalist in last year’s Big Wave category. The 20-year-old is stoked to win this prize as this is the same spot where as a grommet he watched his heroes catch monster waves. Dean Bowen had the crowd in stitches accepting his award for Biggest Paddle In. “I had to get saved by a life guard twice before I was eight years old,” he laughs, proving that big wave surfing is just in his blood.
